The municipality is a democratically run organisation. This means that the main responsibility for municipal activities lies with the elected politicians.
Through active international cooperation, primarily with the European Union but also with other countries, Lidingö acquires new knowledge and networks that are important for the municipality´s development.
In Lidingö, the focus is on staying healthy, keeping fit and being in the outdoors. Together they form one of the cornerstones of our trademark. Every year the world´s largest cross-country race, Lidingöloppet, and the sailing competition Lidingö Runt take place here. You can wander in a nature reserve, take a swim at an outdoor swimming area, go golfing or ski. Read more under Attractions & Recreation.
